IFS (Internal Family Systems) Coaching

Most of our challenges cannot be changed if we try to ‘solve’ them or get rid of them. What triggers the challenge needs to be acknowledged, held and come into relationship with us, so that it can transform and release itself.

With the IFS, you gain a completely new insight into your inner experience, enabling you to understand yourself more deeply and fully, and to discover which approach and mindset bring about lasting inner change and transform, at their very core, the patterns that have limited you up to now.

Support for your personal desire for change

Inner aspects influence every area of our lives, and with the help of the IFS, a wide range of issues can be addressed and positively influenced in the long term.

If you’re unsure whether working with the IFS is the right approach for the challenge you’re facing, please feel free to get in touch with me – with no obligation – and I’ll be happy to provide you with an initial assessment.

Why choose a Coaching spanning several sessions?

Internal patterns, which are usually formed during our formative years as children and teenagers, rarely change in the course of a single session.

Even though the IFS allows you to get to the heart of the matter very effectively and directly, it still takes time to find your feet with this approach, to strengthen your sense of self and to engage with the inner parts in such a way that they can build trust and relax. Continuity over a certain period of time is very helpful in facilitating this inner opening.

A course of several sessions makes it possible to explore issues in greater depth, to consolidate experiences, and also to take into account and support the changes in one’s external life that follow from inner change.

My Approach - Internal Family Systems & Surrendered Leadership

I work mainly with the IFS (Internal Family Systems) approach.

In IFS, we assume that we are made up of various inner parts, each with different roles. The parts that we notice in everyday life as limiting patterns, difficult emotions or reactions we cannot understand are parts that had to take on extreme roles or tasks in past situations in order to protect us.

Through their strategies, these parts of us try to protect us from having to relive the situation that was traumatic at the time – too much to cope with.

In my work, we initially focus solely on the ‘problem’ where you’d like to see change. I then guide you towards the desired state you wish to achieve in this area of your life instead. From there, the parts of you that, due to their protective function, are unable to allow this desired state to emerge will automatically reveal themselves. Through direct inner experience, I help you to connect with these parts and release them from their protective function.

Change does not come about through pressure or because something has to be different, but through a new inner connection that allows that part of oneself to realise that it no longer needs this protection (its task or role) in the here and now.

My role is to provide you with a supportive, safe space and to guide you through this process.

Not sure whether coaching is right for you?

Many people who come to see me aren’t sure
whether they really need support or whether they ‘should just sort things out on their own for a bit’.

I’ve put together a short, straightforward checklist that can help you get a sense of whether support might be useful in your current situation.

This is how a collaboration begins
