My Work

Trauma-informed and resource-oriented coaching and process support with the tools from the IFS and Surrendered Leadership and the background understanding of the Holistic Bodywork Approach, NARM, Somatic Experiencing and the Polyvagal Theory.

Why does psycho-emotional suffering arise? What circumstances and causes lead to mental illness, interpersonal tensions and collective crises?
Through my work and personal interest over the last few years, I have been able to define the following five areas that have the greatest impact on our mental, emotional – and even physical – wellbeing:

The 5 central origins of psycho-emotional suffering

Developmental and Attachment Trauma

What is that?

Developmental trauma is not caused by a single event, but by repeated or prolonged experiences in which basic emotional needs were not met in childhood. According to the NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model) and IFS (Internal Family Systems), such experiences leave traces in the nervous system and in the self-image.

  • Individually, this manifests itself in chronic stress, strong feelings of shame and guilt, relationship problems, addictions and emotional dysregulation.
  • Socially, it leads to a culture that gets lost in performance and control, while genuine connection, compassion and emotional maturity fall by the wayside.

Peer Culture &
Peer Orientation

What is that?

When children and adolescents obtain their emotional orientation primarily from their peers rather than from mature adults, this is known as peer orientation. This phenomenon undermines bonding, maturation and identity development.

  • Individually, it can lead to insecurity, pressure to conform and a lack of self-anchoring. Personal development and healthy individualization come to a standstill.
  • Socially, a culture of superficiality, ‘coolness’, group conformity and a lack of intergenerational wisdom emerges.

Lack of Authenticity & unresolved Projections

What is that?

In a world that is often focused on image, efficiency and control, there is a lack of genuine, vulnerable communication with integrity. Intimacy – in the sense of deep connection – is rarely lived. Loneliness, isolation and an ‘every man for himself’ mentality leaves a social void and unfulfillment.

  • Individually, this leads to loneliness, a lack of relationships and inner emptiness despite external success.
  • Socially, the result is a society that avoids closeness, is unable to process conflicts in a healthy way and has little room for emotional truth.

Lack of Self-Actualization & Self-Realization

What is that?

Many people get stuck in the lower stages of their psychological development – often due to unresolved traumas or external pressure. Self-realization is not a luxury, but a basic human need. If our environment does not invite and encourage our personal gifts and we cannot ‘give ourselves away’, there is always a feeling of ‘not living fully’.

  • Individually, life then remains flat and unsatisfying. We only move along familiar paths and are unable to realize our own personal ingenious ‘quirks’.
  • Socially, we lose creative, empathetic and visionary forces that are urgently needed for a healthy future.

'Purpose-Void' & lost transcendental Values

What is that?

In our secularized, materialistic, efficiency- and consumption-oriented world, many people lack a deeper meaning in life. The “Purpose Void” leaves people disoriented. Especially among young men who no longer feel needed or valued by society. But women are of course also affected.

  • Individually, this manifests itself in depression, a lack of purpose or destructive behavior.
  • Socially, it manifests itself in alienation, a decline in values and the loss of collective visions that could unite and support people.

My Offers

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Coaching Online

Working with the Internal Family Systems Model (IFS) creates a space in which inner parts can be perceived, understood and integrated – especially those that have been split off as a result of developmental trauma.
Instead of “removing” something, the focus is on the relationship with the inner voices, reactions and protective mechanisms. This relationship creates transformation.

This approach opens up the possibility of not only recognizing deeply rooted patterns from childhood, but also of moving them within a safe space and freeing ourselves from them.

This creates a new inner order in which you experience a space of openness, curiosity, compassion and goodwill for everything that makes you you and you can approach life in a completely new way.

IFS helps to heal the emotional wounds of developmental trauma, to establish a stable connection to our adult self, to communicate more honestly and authentically by shedding protective mechanisms and to uncover hidden potentials that are then available to us in our self-realization. Through the experience of the self, more understanding, connection and compassion with our fellow human beings and the world at large arises.

Circling & Surrendered Leadership Workshops

Circling is a practice of radical presence and relationship in the moment. It is not about concepts, but about what is alive between us now. This encounter creates a space for authenticity, intimacy and being truly seen – beyond masks and roles.

Surrendered Leadership deepens this space: it is no longer about ‘being’ someone or ‘doing’ something, but about surrendering to what wants to happen collectively through us. Leadership is shared, contact becomes a source of insight.

This practice works deeply against the lack of real connection in our society. It brings people back into contact with their experience – and with the ability to show themselves honestly.

This not only heals the relationship with others, but also the relationship with one’s own experience. And it opens up spaces in which people can show what often has no place in traditional forms of communication: Vulnerability, uncertainty, truthfulness – and ultimately: trust.

This is what my work is based on

Customer feedback on my work

I would like to characterise Sam's work as shadow work 2.0.

With his strong presence and non-judgemental approach, Sam opens up a space in which the well-known inner ‘adversaries’ - such as the ‘inner critic’ or the ‘perfectionist’ - can be truly recognised for the first time and their good intentions appreciated. Only on this basis can the second, decisive step succeed: fishing out the gold nuggets from the inner mud bath, i.e. visiting and feeling the incredibly painful inner states such as despair, self-hatred or existential guilt - and finally giving them a new, conscious place in your own heart.

For the vast majority of people, such shadow work 2.0 is only possible in the company of consciousness teachers who, like Samuel Schüpbach, know the countless hidden inner mechanisms that - for understandable reasons - prevent us from recognising and integrating this immense pain within us in everyday life. But as long as we don't do this, these banished parts influence us from the shadows and dampen our vitality.
